Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of the Journeyman Electrician include working directly with the Electrical Field Operations Manager to coordinate electrical construction projects, ensuring efficient use of time and resources. Responsibilities also involve planning, organizing, and controlling resources to maximize productivity and meet project budgets. The Journeyman Electrician will assist as the Electrical Lead on projects, help ensure quality, and support the training of Crew Leaders and Helpers. Demonstrating proficiency in all essential duties is required.

Primary Duties
  • Attend and contribute to pre-construction meetings upon request.
  • Report directly to the Electrical Field Operations Manager and act as an extension of that role.
  • Participate in on-site coordination meetings with customers and sales staff as requested.
  • Enforce company policies and safety procedures.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, plans, sketches, or specifications.
  • Coordinate with local authorities such as Fire Marshalls and Inspectors to ensure compliance.
  • Stage and select materials based on provided information and industry standards.
  • Lay out and mark work areas according to drawings.
  • Operate necessary tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with other crew members to ensure continuity of work across disciplines.
Planning Activities
  • Set personal production goals with apprentices based on schedule and budget.
  • Review safety procedures and develop Job Safety Analyses (JSA).
  • Ensure all tools and materials are prepared before work begins.
  • Develop crew schedules and resource requirements with management.
Safety Activities
  • Comply with and enforce safety policies and OSHA requirements.
  • Participate in safety programs and identify potential hazards.
  • Use proper safety equipment at all times.
  • Report and assist in investigations of accidents or injuries.
  • Create daily JSAs for work tasks.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver’s license and state Electrical Journeyman license.
  • Ability to pass drug screening, background check, and MVR.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, bend, stand for long hours.
