Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Licensed Electrician to join our team in a cannabis cultivation and processing facility. The Electrician will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and installing electrical systems to support cannabis production, including grow lighting, HVAC systems, environmental controls, electrical panels, and processing equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience in industrial or agricultural electrical systems and possess strong troubleshooting skills with a focus on safety and compliance.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Electrical Maintenance and Repair:
- Inspect, troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including: grow lighting, 24v irrigation systems, RO Skid, RTU’s, 277/480V panels, 120/208V panels.
- Perform routine maintenance to ensure all electrical components operate efficiently and safely.
- Ability to read blueprints and wiring diagrams.
- System Installation and Upgrades:
- Install, maintain, modify and/or repair electrical components such as transformers, insulators, switches, high voltage vaults, switching gears, relays, circuit breakers, wiring, fans, generators, RTU service, lighting systems, dehumidification systems, steam generating systems, pumps, ozone systems, etc.
- Install and configure electrical systems for new grow rooms, processing areas, and facility expansions.
- Upgrade and optimize existing electrical systems to support energy efficiency and operational improvements.
- Install LED Lights, ballasts, connectors, and wiring as needed.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure all electrical work adheres to local and state electrical codes, as well as cannabis industry regulations.
- Follow OSHA and facility-specific safety protocols while maintaining a clean and hazard-free work environment.
- Environmental Controls:
- Work with the Maintenance team on 24v irrigation and lighting panels.
- Collaborate with the Maintenance team and environmental systems support to ensure proper functioning of temperature, humidity, and CO2 controls critical to cannabis cultivation.
- Maintain and repair backup power systems, including generators and battery backups.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and system upgrades.
- Report electrical system status and issues to management, providing recommendations for improvements.
- Utilize MAINTAIN X for PM software and task management.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with cultivation, processing, and facilities teams to minimize downtime and maintain seamless operations.
- Help maintain consistent room turnover rate throughout the year.
- Provide electrical support for equipment used in cannabis extraction, packaging, and other production processes.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education and Certification:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Electrician’s Journeyman license (required).
- Knowledgeable of state and local building regulations based on the National Electric Code.
- Additional certification in HVAC or controls systems is a plus.
- Experience:
- Minimum 6 years of experience as a Journeyman, industrial or agricultural electrician, with experience in commercial applications. Experience with cannabis facilities is not a must but preferred.
- Familiarity with grow lighting systems (e.g., LED, HPS), climate control systems, and automated 24v irrigation systems is highly desirable.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, wiring schematics, and industrial controls.
- Proficiency with PLCs, VFDs, and energy management systems.
- Ability to use electrical testing and diagnostic tools effectively.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Basic computer and typing skills.
- Ability to respond calmly and clearly to emergency situations.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
- Assist in inspecting contractor installation of electrical components and future projects.
- Demonstrates the ability to walk, stand, stoop, reach, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, balance, climb, and lift a maximum of 50lbs unassisted.
- On-call to respond to emergency situations.
Salary: $23 per hour
