Job summary

ION Solar is hiring at Bloomington, IL for a full-time solar installation role. The team installs PV systems, reads blueprints, and ensures safety while delivering quality work in residential projects.

Required: high school diploma, formal apprenticeship, and a valid electrician license; solar experience is preferred. Drivers license and ability to lift up to 50 lbs are expected; work outdoors on rooftops and attics as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Electrician license is required; apprenticeship completed.
• Solar experience is preferred.
• Unlicensed candidates must be enrolled in a trade apprenticeship.

Responsibilities

• Assemble solar array racking and seal roof penetrations.
• Install all relative equipment and connect to MSP.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot system malfunctions.
• Read blueprints and follow project policies and timelines.
• Document paperwork for each job and communicate with customers.
• Maintain quality assurance with emphasis on crew safety.

ION Solar is a rapidly expanding, full-service residential solar company with a strong nationwide presence. Our dedicated team is committed to making solar energy accessible and affordable for homeowners across the country.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Complete projects within established policies and procedures
• Complete projects within time frames and budgets
• Maintain high levels of quality assurance and quality control with an emphasis on crew safety
• Assemble the solar array racking, properly seal all roof penetrations, and install all relative equipment
• MSP Rebuilds & Upgrades
• Responsible for the groundwork of a solar installation which includes the connection to the MSP
• Diagnose and troubleshoot system malfunctions and operational issues
• Communicate with customers in a professional, and respectful manner, answering all questions and complaints to the best of your ability
• Document proper paperwork for each job completed
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to read blueprints
• Extensive knowledge of electrical systems and wiring
• Ability to use hand tools and power tools
• Proficient in the use of test meters and other diagnostic equipment
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Education and Experience:

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required
• Solar or relevant experience is preferred
• Licensed - Completion of a formal apprenticeship and proof of valid electrician's license required
• Unlicensed - Must be enrolled in a trade apprenticeship

Driving Requirements:

• Must be at least 21 years old
• Must have a clean driving record as determined by a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to see color to discern color-coded wiring.
• Prolonged periods standing, kneeling, bending, and climbing ladders or scaffolding.
• Must be able to work at great heights.
• Must be physically capable of pulling wires and cables through conduits.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.

Work Environment:

PV installation is done outdoors. Installers work on rooftops but also sometimes work in attics and crawl spaces to connect panels to the electrical grid. PV installers work as part of a team and may require the help of technicians and electricians.
