Qualifications

  • Alaska Certificate of Fitness – Journeyman Level required.
  • Must hold a valid driver's license.
  • 5+ years of commercial and industrial construction experience.
  • Knowledge of materials and standard install practices, including classified locations.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Ability to travel and work in remote locations in Alaska.

Responsibilities

Job description

Job Summary:

Journeyman electrician -- Install, modify, troubleshoot, repair industrial electrical equipment, install/troubleshoot instruments, and control systems. Has the ability to work in multiple environments both interior and exterior. Providing technical advice, feedback to the crew lead as well as the apprentices. Work in a crew setting as well as work independently. Provide panel/fabrication shop support for the electrical and automation crew when directed. Journeyman Industrial Electricians are the technical face of KEW/TecPro and shall representthemselves as confident, friendly, knowledgeable, and professional with all contractors, customers and within thecommunity.

Essential Functions include but are not limited to

Install electrical equipment and systems per applicable NEC and project specifications in commercial orindustrial environments.

Troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment and systems within commercial and industrial environments.

Install control system equipment and instrumentation associated with process control systems.

Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical drawings, schematics, ladder diagrams, and project specific specifications.

Mechanical and structural drawings are a plus

Understanding the operations and functions of standard electrical equipment to include transformers,MCCs, switchgear, motors, pumps, generators, transfer switches, UPS systems, low voltage systems, firedetection and suppression systems, lighting controls, relay logic, etc.

PLC and automation drawings and function are a plus.

Ability to perform basic electric math calculations.

Thorough knowledge of the NEC and electrical theory.

Electrical testing and how to use testing equipment including megohmmeter, ground resistance tester,multimeter, amp clamp, power quality analyzer, etc.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to complete pretesting and functional testing for equipmentstartups / commissioning.

Responsible for the proper use and care of the contractor provided tools and equipment commonlyemployed in industrial/commercial construction.

Mentor and train apprentices through on the job activities.

Qualifications:

Alaska Certificate of Fitness – Journeyman Level

Must hold a valid driver’s license.

5+ years of experience in commercial and industrial construction.

Knowledge of material commonly used and standard install practices, including classified locations.

Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving and analytical skills.

Ability to maintain drawings, redlines, as-builts, testing reports, etc.

Effective communication and collaboration skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Ability to meet deadlines and concentrate on detailed information in a fast-paced and demanding workenvironment.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, otherdepartments, officials, customers, and the public.

Must be willing to travel and work in remote locations for extended periods of time.

Office Location and Travel:

This position is based in Wasilla, AK but may often require out of town work in remote or non-remotecommunities throughout Alaska.

Travel to job sites may include driving or air travel.

Pay:

Compensation starts at a minimum of $45 per hour, however, the final compensation will be adjusted dependingon experience.

Working Environment & Conditions

Consistent with a standard field position and has a noise level of varying degrees commonly experienced onconstruction sites. The incumbent may be exposed to ambient temperature ranges of negative (-)60F to positive(+)110F due to extremes of Alaska Environmental conditions. Typical job duties may require the incumbent tostand, walk, sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talkand hear. The workload may require the incumbent to sit or stand for extended periods of time. The incumbent may occasionally be asked to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job includeclose vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
