Otter Tail Power Company is looking for a skilled and motivated Electrical Technician I or II to join our team. This position reports to Supervisor Operations.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Install, test, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain a variety of High and Medium Voltage Substation Equipment.
  • Perform mechanical and electrical testing on apparatus such as circuit breakers, reclosers, regulators, transformers, battery banks, capacitors, relays, in energized facilities.
  • Support transmission, distribution, and generation systems that power our communities.
  • Travel across our system as needed to support operations and respond to challenges.
  • Play a key role in system reliability by responding to direction from the System Operator during system events or emergencies.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate degree (2‑year) in Electrical/Electronic Technology from an accredited school, or equivalent military training, correspondence coursework, or experience.
  • Strong understanding of electrical and electronic schematics and diagrams.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
  • Sound judgment, especially in emergency situations.
  • Ability to work outdoors, cooperatively with team members, and maintain positive customer interactions.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs, use ladders and aerial lifts.
  • Employees are required to establish residence within 30 miles of permanent headquarters.
  • A valid driver’s license and a medical card or the ability to obtain one is required for this position.

The expected base compensation for this role is $52.58 per hour, within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
