Job summary

Inland Kenworth U.S. is seeking a Journeyman Diesel Technician in Fontana, CA. The starting pay is $48.00 per hour with potential for higher based on experience. Responsibilities include repairing and maintaining diesel industrial trucks per dealership and factory standards, along with diagnosing performance complaints and performing necessary repairs.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience as a Class 8 technician, preferably in a dealership or related truck facility.
• Valid Driver’s License; CDL is a plus.
• A/C, Brake and DOT Annual Inspector Certifications required.

• Perform work outlined on repair orders efficiently and accurately.
• Diagnose and repair customers' truck performance complaints.

Job description

The starting pay rate for a Journeyman Diesel Technician is $48.00 per hour or higher, depending on experience. Additional premium pay opportunities are available for eligible employees. The work schedule is Tuesday-Saturday from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Opportunity

Journeyman Diesel Technician will be responsible for repairing and maintaining diesel engine industrial trucks according to dealership and factory specifications.

Responsibilities

• Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards including engine overhaul, fuel systems, electrical systems, transmissions, cooling systems, chassis, brakes, engine tune‑up and preventative maintenance
• Analyzes customers’ truck performance complaints, diagnoses the cause of any malfunctions and performs repair
• Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts
• Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended
• Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order
• Road test vehicles when required
• Becomes familiar with and complies with the company’s Health & Safety Manual
• Keeps shop area neat and clean after each repair, returning all common tools used in the repair to their designated storage place
• Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations such as hazardous waste disposal, occupational health & safety regulations, etc.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience as a Class 8 technician, preferable in a dealership or related truck facility
• Valid Driver’s License; CDL is a plus

• Basic computer skills and experience
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and walk around the shop floor and exterior yard area for long periods; requires mobility to easily access and egress trucks and equipment
• Regular, full attendance is an essential function of the job
