Job summary

Earth Systems in California seeks a detail-oriented Construction Special Inspector (Journey-person) to join our team across ten CA offices. You will perform field inspections of concrete and masonry, sample and test materials, review plans, and prepare detailed inspection reports.

Ideal candidates have an approved apprenticeship, are familiar with MS Office, and bring experience in geotechnical environments with a strong safety mindset and ability to work independently or in a team.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an approved apprenticeship program for Building/Construction Inspector and Field Soils and Materials Tester required.
• ICC Certified Special Inspectors for Reinforced Concrete strongly preferred.
• ICC Certified Special Inspectors for Pre-stressed Concrete strongly preferred.
• ICC Certified Special Inspectors for Structural Masonry strongly preferred.
• ICC Certified Special Inspectors for Structural Steel and Bolting strongly preferred.
• ICC Certified Special Inspectors for Fireproofing strongly preferred.
• AWS CWI Certified Welding Inspectors strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of MS Office and basic software tools required.
• Experience in Geotechnical environments is a plus.
• Experience in construction materials testing or inspection required.

Responsibilities

• Fieldwork and observation related to concrete and masonry construction operations.
• Sampling, field testing, and special inspection of concrete and masonry, plus related components.
• Review project plans and specifications to ensure compliance.
• Prepare detailed special inspection reports including daily field reports and formal reports.
• Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and project managers to resolve issues.
• Promote safety culture and follow safety protocols.
