Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to lift materials and equipment as needed.
  • Must have a valid Michigan driver's license and meet the requirements of the Michigan Essential Insurance Act, District Driving Standard.
  • Must be a person of the highest integrity with a reliable work record.
  • The Master Carpenter title indicates licensure to practice the trade.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule, review, install, repair, oversee, and maintain all structural and aesthetic components of the building.
  • Review, modify, and prioritize all incoming work orders.
  • Coordinate work orders and schedules with departments, sites, and contractors.
  • Research and study carpentry codes to ensure compliance with Michigan construction codes for remodel/repair projects.
  • Recommend actions to eliminate ongoing carpentry issues to supervisors.
  • Coordinate meetings between contractors and building sites regarding contract work.
  • Interface with project coordinators, engineers, general contractors, and subcontractors on project design and visits.
  • Perform quality control inspections and certify completed work; provide time-and-material estimates upon request.
