Job summary

Hawaiian Building Maintenance is seeking a reliable Custodian to join our Kauai team. You will perform routine cleaning, sanitize restrooms, manage waste, and assist with event setup while maintaining a safe, welcoming environment.

The role requires attention to detail, time management, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Hawaii-based duties with on-site work on Kauai, Hawaii.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must pass prescreen check.
• Previous custodial or cleaning experience preferred. Willingness to train.
• Valid Hawaii Driver's License preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting.
• Sanitize and clean restrooms, replenish supplies.
• Manage waste disposal and recycling processes.
• Set up or break down furniture for events.
• Ensure areas are secure after cleaning.
• Report maintenance or repair needs to supervisor.
• Perform any additional tasks assigned by supervisor.

The custodian plays a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of facilities, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all occupants. Key responsibilities include performing routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting, as well as sanitizing, cleaning restrooms, replenishing supplies, managing waste disposal and recycling processes. They may be required to set up or break down furniture for events and ensure that all areas are secure after cleaning. A successful custodian should possess attention to detail, time management skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team, contributing to the overall upkeep and functionality of the building.

Hourly Pay Rate

$16.00

Skills and Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Must pass prescreen check.

• Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to maintaining cleanliness standards.
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment safely and effectively.
• Good communication in English and teamwork skills.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
• Capable of performing tasks in any type of weather.
• Physically capable of carrying, lifting, pushing, pulling a minimum of 25 pounds to 50 pounds, standing for extended periods, and performing tasks such as stretching, kneeling, bending, crawling, climbing and pressing.
• Report any maintenance or repair needs to supervisor.
• Perform any additional tasks assigned by yourH.B.M. supervisor.
