Job summary

Primoris Renewable Energy is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer focused on Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) for utility-scale projects. You will develop designs, site layouts, and system configurations, and review calculations and diagrams to support project execution.

The role emphasizes collaboration with estimating, procurement, PM, and field teams, plus guidance to AutoCAD designers and engineers across multiple project phases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 2+ years in utility-scale BESS, Solar PV, or renewables.
• Strong understanding of energy storage systems and inverters.

Responsibilities

• Support design and development of utility-scale BESS projects from concept to construction.
• Develop preliminary electrical designs, site layouts, and system configurations.
• Create/review electrical calculations, single-line diagrams, and docs.
• Collaborate with estimators, procurement, PM, and field teams to optimize designs.
• Review interconnection documents, facility studies, and PPAs for planning.
• Provide guidance to AutoCAD designers and engineering teams across phases.
• Support equipment evaluation, data management, and BOM development.
• Analyze data and drive continuous improvement across teams.

What You Will Do (When the Time Comes):

Support the design and development of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects from concept through construction. Develop preliminary electrical designs, site layouts, and system configurations based on sound engineering principles. Create and review electrical calculations, single-line diagrams, and technical documentation to support project development and execution. Partner with estimating, procurement, project management, and field teams to optimize project designs and improve project outcomes. Review utility interconnection documents, facility studies, and power purchase agreements to support project planning and execution. Provide technical guidance to AutoCAD designers and engineering teams throughout multiple project phases. Support equipment evaluation, database management, and Bill of Materials development for BESS projects. Analyze project data and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across engineering, procurement, scheduling, and project controls.

What We Look For:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent renewable energy industry experience. 2+ years of experience in utility-scale BESS, Solar PV design, or the renewable energy industry. Strong understanding of energy storage systems, inverters, electrical equipment, and utility-scale renewable energy design principles. Experience creating engineered site plans, electrical drawings, and AC/DC single-line diagrams. Proficiency with engineering and design tools such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, ETAP, CYMCAP, PVsyst, SAM, PVSOL, and/or Python. Ability to interpret manufacturer specifications, engineering standards, and installation requirements. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Excellent communication and collaboration skills with a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.

Pay Equity Statement:

$100,000 - $135,000 Primoris Renewable Energy provides the above compensation range and general description of other compensation and benefits that it in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position. This compensation range is based on a full-time schedule.
