Job summary

Primoris Renewable Energy invites engineers to join its live BESS design community. The role focuses on designing utility-scale battery energy storage systems, developing site layouts, and generating electrical drawings from concept to construction.

Candidates should have a solid electrical background and hands-on experience with energy storage technologies, inverters, and design tools such as AutoCAD Civil 3D and ETAP. Colorado-based or remote work options may apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; renewable energy experience acceptable.
• 2+ years in utility-scale BESS, Solar PV design, or renewable energy.
• Strong understanding of energy storage systems, inverters, and utility-scale design principles.
• Experience creating engineered site plans, electrical drawings, and AC/DC single-line diagrams.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, ETAP, CYMCAP, PVsyst, SAM, PVSOL, and/or Python.

Responsibilities

• Support the design and development of utility-scale BESS projects from concept through construction.
• Develop preliminary electrical designs, site layouts, and system configurations.
• Create and review electrical calculations, single-line diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Partner with estimating, procurement, project management, and field teams to optimize designs.
• Review interconnection documents, facility studies, and Power Purchase Agreements.
• Provide technical guidance to AutoCAD designers and engineering teams.
• Support equipment evaluation, database management, and BOM development for BESS projects.
• Analyze project data and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
