Job summary

John Deere Waterloo Works Foundry is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Repair professional to perform maintenance and repair of foundry buildings and equipment, supporting foundry operations in a team environment. Responsibilities include plumbing, HVAC, painting, sheet metal work, and servicing power equipment.

Minimum qualifications include 18+ years old, high school diploma or equivalent, and 1+ year of relevant experience; preferred candidates have NCRC and 3+ years manufacturing background.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of manufacturing work experience.
• 1 year of experience with plumbing/HVAC, welding, or sheet metal forming tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform general plumbing repair and maintenance.
• Perform general heating and ventilation repair and maintenance.
• Perform general building repair and maintenance.
• Perform sheet repair and maintenance as required.
• Perform painting as required.
• Maintain and repair gas/electrical industrial trucks and equipment.
• Service batteries and perform adjustments/repairs.
• Operate and service equipment and manage waste safely.
• Support team members and work with minimal supervision.
• Maintain clean work area and perform related duties.

As a Facilities Maintenance Repair employeewith the John DeereWaterloo Foundry, you will:

Performs maintenance and repair of foundry buildings and equipment. Performs tasks necessary to support foundry operations in a team environment. The types of machines, tools, and equipment used, or operated, include welding and brazing equipment, plumbing tools, bending, and threading machine, sheet metal forming tools and equipment, stationary or portable power equipment, testing equipment, hoists, paint equipment, ladders, and various other hand tools.

Job details are dependent on duties assigned but in general consist of the following:

• Maintaina safe work environment and has knowledge of OSHA rules for industrial manufacturing equipment and tools.
• Perform general plumbing repair and maintenance as required.
• Perform general heating and ventilation repair and maintenance as required.
• Perform general building repair and maintenance.
• Perform sheet repair and maintenance as required.
• Perform painting as required.
• Perform general repairs and lubrications to gas and electrical industrial trucks and other power driven and manually operated equipment.
• Check and service and store electrical storage batteries and makenecessary adjustments and repairs.
• Operate and service equipment received, treat, and dispose of toxic, corrosive, and/or reactive waste material.
• Assist and support other team members and work with minimal supervision.
• Clean work area and perform other miscellaneous duties inherent to the job.
• Work shifts (choice of shift based on seniority).

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must have at least one of the following:
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC)
  • At least 3 years of manufacturing work experience
• Minimum of 1 year of experience with plumbing/HVAC, welding, or using sheet metal forming tools.
• Ability to perform manual tasks related to described job duties for duration of work shift – with or without reasonable accommodation; including but not limited to frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
• Ability and willingness to work potential overtime (including weekends).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Journeyperson’s card in Pipefitting / HVAC Maintenance or at least 2 years of industrial pipefitting / HVAC experience (or equivalent Military experience and training).
• At least 2 years of millwright or iron work experience.
• At least 2 years of experience laying out, fabricating, repairing steel structures such as jib and bridge cranes, and reading/working with blueprints/drawings.
• At least 3 years of sheet metal and/or plastics maintenance experience:
  • Including use of applicable tools and processes and experience working from prints, sketches, samples, templates, and written or oral instructions.
