Sunbelt Solomon is seeking a Jockey Driver to move trailers and equipment within yard locations, position trailers for loading, and assist with loading/unloading. The role emphasizes safety, vehicle inspections, and adherence to company policies in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • HS diploma/GED preferred.
  • 2 years working experience as a truck driver preferred.
  • Valid Class A CDL required.
  • Tanker endorsement preferred.
  • OTR flatbed experience preferred.
  • Ability to operate both manual and automatic transmission vehicles required.
  • ELD (Electronic Logging Device) experience preferred.
  • Clean and acceptable MVR.
  • Basic knowledge of truck maintenance and repair, including identifying and reporting any mechanical or electrical issues.
  • A proven track record in safety excellence is required.
  • Adheres to all safety and environmental compliance regulations set by the organization.
  • Ability to read and interpret load manifest.
  • Ensure product quality meets company and client expectations.

  • Ensure that trailers are properly positioned for loading and unloading.
  • Assist with loading and unloading of trailers.
  • Conduct regular vehicle inspections to maintain its safe operation, identifying and reporting any mechanical or electrical issues that require attention.
  • Assist with maintaining a clean and organized yard.
  • Communicate with team members and management to ensure efficient operations.
  • Recording daily trailer locations and reporting to supervisor.
  • Ensure proper cargo securement procedures are followed based on company policies.
  • Operate trucks safely, following all traffic laws and adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, such as wearing seat belts and personal protective equipment when required.
  • Communicate courteously with other drivers, pedestrians, and road users.
  • Drivers are required to maintain their trucks in a clean and organized condition.
  • Secondary responsibilities will include job tasks supporting the Receiving and Transportation departments.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Jockey Driver will be responsible for moving trailers and other equipment and ensuring that they are properly positioned for loading and unloading. Compliance with all safety requirements, product quality standards and company policies are essential functions of this role.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and work under pressure in a fast-paced work environment.

Physical requirements for this role include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Lift 50lbs floor to waist and waist to shoulder multiple times
  • Standing and walking for long durations
  • Bending, squatting, and kneeling multiple times for long durations
  • The ability to climb up and down a ladder multiple times
  • Balance and stand on a ladder with three points of contact for extended periods of time
