Job summary

Sunbelt Solomon is seeking an experienced truck driver to move trailers and equipment around the yard and between staging locations. You will assist with loading/unloading, conduct safety inspections, and maintain an organized yard while ensuring cargo is secured per policy.

Responsibilities include reading load manifests, communicating with the team, and supporting Receiving and Transportation departments as needed.

Qualifications

  • HS diploma or GED preferred.
  • Valid Class A CDL is required.
  • 3+ years driving experience, including OTR/flatbed.
  • Tank endorsement preferred; tanker experience advantageous.
  • ELD experience and a clean MVR are required.
  • Ability to operate both manual and automatic transmissions.
  • Strong safety record and adherence to all regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Move trailers and equipment between yard locations and staging areas.
  • Position trailers correctly for loading/unloading.
  • Assist with loading/unloading cargo.
  • Conduct regular vehicle inspections and report issues.
  • Maintain a clean, organized yard and timely reporting to supervisor.
  • Record daily trailer locations and communicate with the team.
  • Ensure cargo securement per company policy.
  • Operate trucks safely and follow traffic laws.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and PPE requirements.
  • Read and interpret load manifests accurately.
  • Support Receiving and Transportation departments as needed.
  • Meet production and department goals; stay under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Learn other department functions as needed.

Job description

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Move trailers and other equipment around the yard and between staging locations
  • Ensure that trailers are properly positioned for loading and unloading
  • Assist with loading and unloading of trailers
  • Conduct regular vehicle inspections to maintain its safe operation, identifying and reporting any mechanical or electrical issues that require attention.
  • Assist with maintaining a clean and organized yard
  • Communicate with team members and management to ensure efficient operations
  • Recording daily trailer locations and reporting to supervisor.
  • Ensure proper cargo securement procedures are followed based on company policies.
  • Operate trucks safely, following all traffic laws and adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, such as wearing seat belts and personal protective equipment when required.
  • Communicate courteously with other drivers, pedestrians, and road users.
  • Drivers are required to maintain their trucks in a clean and organized condition.
  • Secondary responsibilities will include job tasks supporting the Receiving and Transportation departments.

  • Ability to operate both manual and automatic transmission vehicles required.

  • Clean and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
  • Advanced knowledge of truck maintenance and repair, including identifying and reporting any mechanical or electrical issues
  • A proven track record in safety excellence is required.
  • Adheres to all safety and environmental compliance regulations set by the organization. Notify management immediately of any safety concerns, hazardous conditions, or injuries.
  • Ability to read and interpret load manifest
  • Ensure product quality meets company and client expectations.
  • Possess a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities, cooperative attitude, strong attention to detail and can work in a team environment.
  • Adheres to the company's employee handbook policies and embodies the organization's core values.
  • Ability to learn other department job functions and fill in as needed.
  • Complete company compliance and safety training when required.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and work under pressure in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Physical requirements for this role include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Lift 50lbs floor to waist and waist to shoulder multiple times
  • Standing and walking for long durations
  • Bending, squatting, and kneeling multiple times for long durations
  • The ability to climb up and down a ladder multiple times
  • Balance and stand on a ladder with three points of contact for extended periods of time
  • HS Diploma/GED preferred.
  • 1 year of experience in material handling equipment (forklift, crane, etc.) preferred.
  • WMS (Warehouse Management System) experience preferred.
  • OSHA10 certification preferred
  • A proven track record in safety excellence is required.
