Job description

Tri-City Electric Co. is currently seeking an experienced Jobsite Safety Specialist for an immediate opening. Applicants must be willing to commute or relocate to New Carlisle/South Bend, IN. The Jobsite Safety Specialist’s primary function is to plan, implement, and supervise project safety, accident, and fire protection programs in compliance with corporate safety program standards.

Main duties include but are not limited to:

  1. Controlling hazardous working conditions and unsafe employee activities through safety management and supervisory personnel.
  2. Assisting corporate programs by developing employee and craft safety orientation training programs and implementing upon completion.
  3. Conducting work area surveillance inspections, air sampling tests for confined space entry, property damage, and personal injury investigations.
  4. Reviewing documentation to ensure all required records and reports are complete, accurate, and submitted per established procedures and implementing corrective action as required.
  5. Walking through to ensure PPE and OSHA guidelines are being maintained per state/federal regulations.
  6. Conducting tool talks and other ongoing training/presenting or teaching new safety protocols and procedures.

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum of 4 years’ experience/Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety or Health or equivalent combinations of training and related experience.
  2. Previous experience working on construction projects, data centers, and mission-critical sites is preferred but not required.
  3. Construction and/or industrial safety experience and a thorough understanding of and the ability to enforce all federal, state, local, and company regulations.
  4. Candidates must have the ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures, as well as possess good interpersonal and communication skills.
  5. CHST Certification (Construction Health and Safety Technician) through the Board of Certified Safety Professionals is a plus but not required.
