Job summary

True North Recovery, Inc. is seeking a dependable Laborer to join our facilities team in a temporary full-time role. You will perform in-house maintenance to keep our environment safe, functional, and welcoming for clients and staff.

Ideal candidates bring at least 5 years of general construction experience, comfort working independently, and the ability to collaborate with a team. The position reports to the Facilities Director and may require occasional travel to remote locations.

Qualifications

  • Proven knowledge of basic maintenance and construction procedures.
  • Experience in plumbing and electrical work.
  • Strong project and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Comfortable working under pressure and managing priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Facilities Director with facility improvement and maintenance
  • Complete assigned work efficiently and with attention to detail
  • Assist with carpentry and remodeling tasks, including framing, flooring, drywall, painting, trim, countertops, tile, window installation, siding, fencing, bathroom remodels, and light plumbing and electrical work
  • Manage and stock tools, materials, and supplies
  • Maintain a safe and organized worksite
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with other departments

Job Description

True North Recovery, Inc. is seeking a dependable and experienced Laborer to join our Job Training Program alongside our facilities team. This temporary full-time position is responsible for performing in-house general maintenance needs that help create safe, functional, and welcoming environments for the people we serve.

Ideal candidates will have a broad skill set in general construction, with at least 5 years of experience, and the ability to work both independently and in collaboration with a laborer. This role reports directly to the Facilities Director and/or designee and may involve occasional travel to remote locations.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Assist the Facilities Director with facility improvement and maintenance
  • Complete assigned work efficiently and with attention to detail
  • Assist with carpentry and remodeling tasks, including: framing, flooring, drywall, painting, trim, countertops, tile, window installation, siding, fencing, bathroom remodels, and light plumbing and electrical work.
  • Manage and stock tools, materials, and supplies
  • Maintain a safe and organized worksite
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with other departments
Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Proven knowledge of basic maintenance and construction procedures
  • Valid Alaska driver’s license and insurable under company policy (minimum age 18)
  • Continued employment is contingent upon satisfactory state and federal background checks
  • Experience in plumbing and electrical
  • Strong project and time management abilities
  • Sound judgment and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Comfortable working under pressure and managing priorities

Physical Requirements

This role is primarily performed in an office building with standard office environment and controlled temperatures. When working outdoors or at a job site the employee may be exposed to construction equipment or other moving objects/equipment, reference job site specifics. The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk/hear, see, read, and personally interact with others.
