Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a skilled welder to perform GTAW welding on aluminum and stainless steel aerospace alloys, set up welds, and inspect quality to strict specifications. You will work with flight hardware, read engineering drawings, and develop fixtures to support production and development on spaceflight programs.

The role requires 3+ years of TIG welding experience, CAD familiarity (CREO), and strong documentation habits.

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience with DC- and AC-TIG welding of aerospace stainless steels and aluminum alloys.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to document and maintain accurate records.
• Ability to use precision hand tools, standard mechanical tools and fabrication shop equipment.
• Ability to develop fixtures/tooling.
• Familiar with CAD tools (CREO) and reading GD&T.

This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.Candidates performs welding processes on aluminum, steel, and alloy parts and assemblies to required tolerances using welding metals and metal alloys and precision blending using hand tools to prepare metallic surfaces for welding and non-destructive evaluation. Determines layouts and welds parts and assemblies according to engineering drawings and specifications. Monitors and verifies quality in accordance with statistical processes or other control procedures. Joins metal parts to form a permanent bond. Welds metal components and parts using standard specialized equipment such as gas welders and gas torches and may also utilize friction stir welding (FSW) methods using solid-state joining. Uses electrical currents or friction to create heat and bond metals. Observes tests on welded surfaces to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications. Set up and operate large, motion-controlled machines to create friction stir welds on launch vehicles. Perform periodic maintenance on machines with complex pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
