Job summary

Consor is seeking a Traffic Engineering Designer to work on complex transportation projects, providing technical support in traffic operations, traffic control, and safety-related design. You will apply engineering judgment and collaborate with project engineers and managers to deliver accurate, efficient, and constructible traffic design solutions.

The role requires a BS in civil engineering with an emphasis in transportation design, EIT certification, and 2+ years of related experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in civil engineering with transportation emphasis.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.
  • 2+ years of directly related experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver traffic engineering design plans, specs, and cost estimates.
  • Design traffic control systems including signals, signing, markings, lighting, and work zones.
  • Perform traffic engineering calculations and analyses per standards and client needs.
  • Coordinate design activities with multidisciplinary teams and mentor junior staff.
  • Assist project engineers with QA/QC reviews, schedule tracking, and deliverables coordination.
  • Support intersection, corridor, and multimodal studies related to design implementation.

Job description

What Your Day Will Look Like:

As a Traffic Engineering Designer, you will work on portions of complex transportation projects and provide technical support in traffic operations, traffic control, and safety-related design. You will apply sound engineering judgment and collaborate closely with project engineers and managers to deliver accurate, efficient, and constructible traffic design solutions.

What You'll Do:
  • Deliver traffic engineering design plans, specifications, and cost estimates for transportation projects.
  • Develop and design traffic control systems including traffic signals, signing, pavement markings, lighting, and work zone traffic control.
  • Perform traffic engineering calculations and analyses, ensuring compliance with applicable standards, agency criteria, and client requirements.
  • Coordinate traffic design activities with multidisciplinary teams and provide technical guidance to junior staff.
  • Assist project engineers and managers with quality control reviews, schedule tracking, and the coordination of traffic-related design deliverables.
  • Support intersection, corridor, and multimodal traffic studies as they relate to design implementation.
What You'll Need:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering with an emphasis in transportation design.
  • 2+ years of directly related experience.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation &/or Civil 3D.
  • Proficiency with Excel.
