Job summary

Fdcorp is seeking an Estimator to prepare project estimates by analyzing specifications and contract plans to ensure cost-effective quantities and construction methods align with pursuit, schedule and price goals.

You will review proposals, takeoffs, and historical data, provide risk input to the lead estimator, perform discipline estimates, and collaborate with the team on hand-offs and vendor recommendations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field required.
• 1+ years of experience in construction industry, estimating or cost control preferred.
• Beginner knowledge of HCSS Heavy Bid Estimating Software.
• Developing technical writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Reviews proposal specifications, drawings and pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work.
• Reviews and incorporates historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports into unit and person-hour figures.
• Provides input regarding project risks to the lead estimator to ensure the bid aligns with schedule and cost goals.
• Prepares discipline estimates by calculating complete takeoffs and material quantities from drawings.
• Monitors client addenda and advises estimating team on changes during the estimate period.
• Assists with design review options and recommends cost-effective solutions.
• Partners with the estimating team to conduct project hand-off meetings between pursuit and project management.
• Researches and recommends vendors and subcontractors for designated scopes.

As an Estimator, you will play a crucial role in preparing project estimates by analyzing specifications and contract plans to ensure cost-effective quantities and construction methods align with pursuit, schedule and price goals.

What you will be doing

• Reviews proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc., to determine scope of work and required contents of the estimate.
• Reviews and incorporates historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports into unit and person-hour figures.
• Provides technical input regarding project and contract risks to the lead estimator responsible for final bid price approval. Reviews final estimate to ensure defined work aligns with overall project schedule and cost goals.
• Prepares discipline estimates by calculating complete takeoffs of scope of work. Calculates material quantity requirements from engineering drawing dimensions.
• Monitors client addenda and advises the estimating team on changes during the estimate period.
• Assists with design review options and recommends the best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.
• Partners with the estimating team to prepare and conduct project hand-off meetings between pursuit team and project management team.
• Researches and recommends vendors and subcontractors for designated scopes of work to achieve pursuit and cost goals.

What we are looking for
