Job summary

EMERY SAPP & SONS is seeking a detail-oriented Job Cost Analyst to analyze project costs, monitor budgets, and provide financial insights to aid project decisions.

You will conduct cost analyses, track changes, and generate reports to support management, project teams, and revenue targets. The role requires collaboration with project managers and strong Excel skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, construction management, civil engineering or related field.
• 2+ years of experience in job cost analysis, accounting, estimating or field engineering in construction.
• Strong understanding of construction project accounting, cost control processes.
• Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Knowledge of Viewpoint or similar construction accounting systems (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed analysis of project costs, including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and overhead expenses.
• Monitor and review project budgets and compare actual costs against budgeted amounts.
• Identify cost variances, investigate discrepancies, and provide explanations for budget deviations.
• Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to review project financials and discuss cost-saving opportunities.
• Prepare and distribute timely and accurate project cost reports, forecasts, and financial analyses to management and project teams.
• Assist in the development of project budgets and cost estimates for new and ongoing projects.
• Maintain accurate records of project costs, change orders, and contract modifications.
• Conduct regular audits of project documentation to ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
• Support month-end and year-end close processes by reconciling costs and performing related journal entries.
• Assist in the development and improvement of cost tracking systems, tools, and processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
