Job Summary

The Job Coach works with young adults in the Transition Program to gain daily living and vocational skills and supervises job training at partner work sites.

SALARY

Starting at $22.73/hr for 2025-2026

10-month Position

Education And Experience

  • Possession of a Paraprofessional License, Substitute Teaching License, or a Professional Educators Licens with vocational experience preferred.
  • Fluent in English, Spanish preferred;
  • Experience working with Special Education students;
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, or similar applications;
  • Travel between multiple sites is required;
  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation;
  • Must have proof of insurance AND meet the requirements of the Employee Driving Policy;
  • A Criminal Background Check must meet the requirements of the State of IL licensure for day programming;
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently;
  • Must be organized and able to handle multiple tasks;
  • Must be honest, dependable and able to meet deadlines;
  • Must exercise sound judgment in making decisions and act accordingly.

  • Knowledge of the similarities and differences between cognitive, communicative, physical, social, and emotional needs of students and the factors that influence these different needs;

  • Oral and written communication skills;
  • Ability to assist and reinforce elements that support safe, healthy child development;
  • Ability to be sensitive and respectful in communications regarding all children and families, regardless of differences in cultural heritage, lifestyle, values, and home environment;
  • Ability to establish and maintain rapport with families;
  • Ability to prepare and organize materials to support parent/caregiver and families;
  • Ability to problem solve;
  • Ability to support parent/caregiver's role in child's development;
  • Ability to use ethical practices for confidential communication about child/parent/caregiver;
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with families and other external stakeholders;
  • Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds;
  • Ability to be a sensitive and mature individual who is able to relate well to adults;
  • Ability to demonstrate warmth, insight, interest, and respect for persons with disabilities;
  • Ability to cope with emergency situations (i.e. accidents, CPR, seizures, etc.), in a calm and efficient manner;
  • Ability to work well in a noisy environment, and demonstrate high levels of patience while maintaining a positive attitude at all times;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the customers and supervisors.

Physical Requirements

Individuals appointed to these assignments must have adequate physical strength, stamina, physical agility and visual and auditory acuity and must maintain such physical fitness as to be able to perform the duties of the assignment.

  • Consistently model appropriate professional behavior, work skills, and hold students to same level of expectations.;
  • Monitor work performance and provide feedback and prompts when needed;
  • Prepares and maintains proper documentation on student work performance;
  • Ensure safety is being maintained in the work environment;
  • Maintain a positive, professional working relationships with the community partners;
  • Attend required meetings, and in-service training sessions;
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, rules, regulations, and Board policies and District procedures;
  • Knowledge of the similarities and differences between cognitive, communicative, physical, social, and emotional needs of students and the factors that influence these different needs;
  • Oral and written communication skills;
  • Interpersonal and social skills;
  • Participates in professional activities and meetings;
  • Prepares materials including those related to IEPs or modifications/accommodations;
  • Prepares the environment for learning activities;
  • Provides assistance with individualized programmed materials;
  • Supervises children in the hallway, lunchroom, playground, field trips, and at work sites;
  • Supports instruction for individual students (one-on-one or small group), including those on an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) under the direction of the supervising teacher;
  • Works with audio-visual equipment, computers and/or assistive technology as related to IEP
  • Implements accommodations and modifications;
  • Works with staff to develop schedules;
  • May transport students in District vehicles, when requested;
  • Performs other related duties as required;
  • Uses personal vehicle to transport self to various community work training sites.
