Title: JOB COACH II
General Statement Of Function
The Job Coach II provides individualized support to adults and students with disabilities in a variety of paid work and training environments. This role involves identifying each individual's strengths and areas for growth and offering tailored guidance to help them succeed in their individualized goals. The Job Coach II also recommends and facilitates appropriate workplace accommodations to ensure accessibility and inclusion. In addition to direct support, the position requires strict adherence to regulations set by funding agencies and local legislation, as well as compliance with Oparc’s service design standards. Effective communication and collaboration with participants, employers, families, and interdisciplinary teams are essential, along with maintaining accurate documentation of services and progress.
Essential Functions
- Conduct intakes and facilitate Situational Assessments, ensuring appropriate recommendations are being made.
- Prepare comprehensive reports outlining individual strengths, challenges, goals, and recommended accommodations for employment success.
- Schedule and conduct training activities that balance support, instruction, and career exploration.
- Address employment barriers such as behavioral issues, social skills, hygiene, attendance, and productivity.
- Maintain accurate and complete documentation, including case notes, incident reports, timecards, and training records.
- Keep an up-to-date case file with emergency medical information and IHSP/ISP objectives readily accessible.
- Model appropriate workplace behavior, techniques, and work ethic in community employment settings.
- Analyze and resolve issues that negatively impact individual performance or job duties.
- Follow all safety regulations and ensure the safety of individuals; operate job-specific equipment correctly.
- Support individuals in TDS to discover internship and placement opportunities.
- Transport individuals to and from work as needed.
- Provide pre-employment training and support job development preparation
Duties And Responsibilities
- Provide direct job coaching and instructional support to adults and students with diverse disabilities in both one-on-one and group settings.
- Maintain accurate and complete records in compliance with legal, policy, and administrative requirements.
- Work independently to adapt coaching strategies and materials to meet individual needs and interests; deliver social and vocational skills training to support employment success.
- Assist case managers in developing and implementing Individual Habilitation Service Plans (IHSP) and/or Individual Service Plans (ISP); advocate for individuals as needed.
- Collaborate with Job Developers and Case Managers based on service recommendations.
- Continuously assess work environments and recommend improvements to enhance productivity and the overall work experience for individuals.
- Conduct training and activities in both in-person and virtual formats.
- Support the coordination and execution of activities and fundraisers benefiting individuals served.
- Adhere to the proper care and responsible use of Oparc issued property, tools, and equipment.
- Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Physical Requirements
- Able to lift up to 25 lbs. independently and assist with two-person lifts up to 50 lbs.; capable of supporting wheelchair mobility.
- Physically able to walk and stand for up to 100% of the workday; sit for up to 80%, bend and push/pull for up to 70%, squat up to 25%, and perform repetitive motions up to 80% of the day.
- Must be able to work in outdoor environments and indoor warehouse-type settings that may lack heating, air conditioning, and have concrete flooring
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; A.A. degree and one year of experience in the field of developmental disabilities preferred. Experience in job coaching or teaching is helpful.
- Demonstrates basic competency in behavior modification techniques, record keeping, confidentiality, math skills, written and verbal communication, and problem-solving.
- Must possess a valid California driver’s license, have at least 2 years of driving experience, a clean driving record, reliable transportation, and current vehicle insurance.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification required.
- Computer proficiency required.
- Demonstrates sound judgment and effective time management skills.
Location: OPARC - Montclair, California
Reports To: Employment Services Supervisor
Schedule: Varied based on caseload needs; both early morning, evening, and weekend work required.
