Job summary

Community Options, Inc. in Knoxville, TN is seeking a dedicated Job Coach to support individuals with developmental disabilities in a community-based employment setting.

The role involves hands-on training, job task analysis, and ongoing support to help participants develop skills for meaningful work and daily living. You will collaborate with families, residential staff, and employers, maintain documentation, and participate in checks and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of full-time work experience in employment or related field.
• Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record.
• Ability to analyze a job and break it into manageable components.
• Ability to present ideas clearly and remain calm in a crisis.
• Ability to establish a supportive relationship with individuals.
• Criminal background checks, central registry, child abuse registry, and drug testing required.

Responsibilities

• Teach individuals independent job skills using task analysis and supports.
• Work side-by-side with individuals at the job site, breaking tasks into steps.
• Build a support network between the individual and community members.
• Communicate progress to the employer, family, residential staff, and other professionals.
• Accurately complete all documentation.
• Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned.
• Cooperate with license and department staff during inspections or investigations.

Community Options, Inc. is a national non-profit agency providing services to individuals with disabilities in 12 states.

We are now hiring a Job Coach in Knoxville, TN. The Job Coach uses best practices and technology within a community-based employment setting. The Job Coach will supervise and train individuals with developmental disabilities on how to acquire the skills needed to perform specific tasks, work routines, and personal life activities that are critical to successful employment. This role will also work hours in the various residential locations.

Responsibilities

• Teach individuals independent job skills, requirements utilizing job task analysis, job specific supports, including assistive technology and personal assistance
• Work side-by-side with individuals at the job site, analyzing the job requirements and breaking it into manageable components that can be taught to the individual
• Build a support network between the individual and community members
• Communicate individual’s progress to the employer and support people, including family, residential staff, and other professionals
• Accurately complete all documentation
• Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned
• Employee must cooperate with the license and department staff in any inspection, inquiry, or investigation

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Two years’ full-time work experience in employment or related field
• Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record
• Ability to analyze a job and break it into manageable components
• Ability to exercise good judgment and remain calm in a crisis situation
• Ability to present ideas and factual data in a clear concise manner
• Ability to establish a comfortable and supportive relationship with individuals
• Ability to read and write English
• Employment is contingent upon successful completion of checks of criminal background, central registry, child abuse registry, and drug testing
