Job summary

The Center for Human Services-Ewing Center in Sedalia, MO is hiring a Part-Time Job Coach to support individuals receiving services through Employment Services. You will help participants find and sustain employment, provide on-site coaching, and coordinate transport and workplace interactions.

Requirements include a High School diploma, at least one year of work experience, and a valid driver's license with reliable vehicle. Experience with disabilities is preferred.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Job Coach supports the CHS mission by providing outstanding support and services to individuals receiving services through the Employment Services Department while empowering them to achieve their highest level of independence through high-quality and diverse services and support.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support Individuals by assisting them in an employment setting (both as an employee as well as at a Community-Based Assessment site, etc.) by providing the support needed for the individual to achieve the highest level of independent success.
  • Empower Individuals by seeking opportunities in various employment settings where they can demonstrate independence, complete assigned tasks without assistance (when possible), and advocate for his/herself when needed.
  • Integrate Individuals in their employment settings by assisting in developing natural supports, coordination of transportation, and appropriate workplace interactions with co-workers and patrons of said employer.
  • Ensure Regulatory Compliance by completing all required documentation to standard within the timeframes established by both the Center for Human Services, as well as our respective funding sources. Additionally, job coaches will actively participate in training and meetings, demonstrating professionalism, reliability, satisfactory attendance, and accountability.
  • Strengthen Positive Work Culture by participating in effective, courteous, and professional communication; showing kindness and patience to individuals and co-workers, demonstrating respect and responsibility in daily work, and practicing advocacy and encouragement in all aspects of employment.

QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Consistent work experience equal to or greater than one year.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred.
REQUIRED MISCELLANEOUS QUALIFICATIONS
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Reliable, licensed, and insured vehicle
  • Must have reliable form of communication
  • Ability to satisfactorily complete mandatory (paid) trainings to include CPR/First Aid
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to help assist an individual to the ground greater than 50 lbs. (an adult human being) regularly, including the ability to safely assist an adult human being to the ground to perform CPR
  • Continuous ability to kneel on hard or other surfaces for extended periods, as per requirements of performing CPR
  • Continuous ability to push and pull 100-125 lbs. of pressure consistently over extended periods as per requirements of performing CPR, as defined by the American Heart Association
  • Lift, carry, squat, bend, move, push or pull, sit or stand repetitively and for long intermittent periods
  • Type on a keyboard for extended periods, and view a computer or other electronic screen for intermittent periods
  • Walk and/or stand for extended periods
