Job summary

OE Enterprises in North Carolina seeks a Community Employment Specialist to help people with disabilities find and maintain competitive employment. You will assess client needs, provide job readiness training, and connect individuals with local employers and pathways to independence.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Experience working with individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities.
• Independent work ability with minimal on-site supervision.

Responsibilities

• Support clients on the job in multiple settings.
• Train individuals with disabilities to perform job tasks by modeling duties and using appropriate methodology including task analysis, prompting, fading, etc.
• Act as positive role model at all times.
• Create and maintain positive relationships with client, employer, family members.
• Manage crisis situations.
• Develop training activities appropriate for clients that will develop new skills.
• Assist clients in developing and implementing their goals.
• Complete all necessary documentation.
• Assure all regulations are met.
• Communicate regularly with internal staff to assure progress.
• Assure work environment meets safety standards.
• Assure client safety and health.
• Design, as needed and assure use of all needed assistive technology and accommodations.
• Assure consumers are meeting all quality standards in a timely manner.
• Assure work environment is set up to maintain maximum efficiency and accuracy.
• Participate in meetings w/caregivers, other agencies, OE leadership & any other appropriate individuals.
• Assist with transportation needs of clients.
• Advocate for clients.

Requirements

• The Retention Job Coach position requires a high school diploma or GED .
• Candidates must have experience working with individuals with Intellectual/ Developmental Disabilities.
• The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and able to work independently without direct on-site supervision.
• The role demands a candidate with exceptional patience, compassion, and the ability to communicate effectively, always ensuring professional interactions.
• Certifications in CPR, first aid, and NCI+ are preferred but can be provided by the employer.
• C andidates must successfully pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
• A valid driver's license with a clean driving record and dependable transportation is required .

Summary

OE Enterprises is a non-profit company with 50 years of experience serving individuals with disabilities in North Carolina. The Community Employment Specialist will be responsible for helping people with disabilities to find and maintain competitive employment. This role involves connecting individuals seeking employment with local employers and providing assistance through assessment, job readiness training, job matching, and job coaching to help them achieve independence. The goal is to increase the number of individuals with disabilities placed in integrated employment within Orange, Alamance, Randolph, and surrounding counties while decreasing the number of individuals in segregated employment.
