Applied Information Sciences, Inc. (AIS) is seeking a Jira Engineer to support a Washington, D.C. client in a hybrid, full-time capacity.

The role emphasizes configuring Jira workflows, system design, and platform administration to ensure reliability, scalability, and governance across Jira Data Center and Jira Cloud. You will lead code reviews, implement automation with ScriptRunner, and integrate Jira with enterprise systems using REST APIs and SQL queries.

Qualifications

  • Active Top Secret Clearance required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field and 5 years Jira administration experience.
  • Experience with workflow engineering and creating custom workflows.
  • Experience with ScriptRunner automation.
  • Experience with REST API.
  • Experience with SQL/databases.
  • Jira DC/Cloud operational management.
  • Permission/security model expertise.
  • Strong troubleshooting and process design experience.

Responsibilities

  • Configure and maintain Jira workflows, transitions, issue types, schemes, screens, fields, contexts, and permissions.
  • Use ScriptRunner to implement validators, conditions, post-functions, automations, and admin scripts.
  • Manage Jira Service Management configurations, including request types, portals, assets, schemas, automation rules, and service workflows.
  • Create and tune JQL for dashboards, reports, filters, SLA tracking, and visibility.
  • Administer Jira Data Center and Jira Cloud environments, including user management and performance monitoring.
  • Support REST API connectivity and integrations with JSON structures.
  • Work with SQL databases for troubleshooting, analysis, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with business teams to translate requirements into scalable Jira solutions.
  • Ensure adherence to governance, security, and platform stability guidelines.
  • Provide user support, documentation, training, and operational guidance.
