Job summary

Jamestown Healing Clinic (JHC) is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide outpatient nursing care within an integrated care team delivering primary care, dental, behavioral health, and substance use treatment.

You will perform clinical tasks, coordinate care, educate patients, and support medical assistants while ensuring safety and HIPAA compliance. The schedule is Monday to Friday, 5:30 AM to 2:00 PM, with no weekends or holidays, and travel locally as needed.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Valid Washington State RN license to practice as a Registered Nurse.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification or ability to complete employer provided training.
  • Knowledge of substance use disorders, treatment theories, and medications used to treat substance use disorders.

Responsibilities

  • Provide general nursing care including administration of medications and CLIA-waived testing.
  • Assist providers with clinical procedures and coordinate patient flow for timely care.
  • Educate patients and families regarding results, health maintenance, and treatment instructions.
  • Maintain accurate medical records in the EMR and ensure confidentiality.
  • Respond to treatment-related inquiries and coordinate care across care teams.

Enjoy a rewarding nursing role supporting patients with substance use disorders while exercising a wide range of clinical skills, including wound care, EKGs, lab draws, patient education, and full primary care services.The Jamestown Healing Clinic (JHC) Registered Nurse (RN) provides outpatient nursing care for all patients at JHC. This position works as part of an integrated care team that combines primary care, dental, behavioral health, and opiate use disorder treatment.The RN provides clinical and general supervision and consultative services for medical assistants and urinalysis technicians and plays an important role in coordinating comprehensive, timely, and patient-centered care.ScheduleMonday–Friday | 5:30 AM–2:00 PMNo weekends or holidays!Essential FunctionsProvide general nursing care to patients including administration of medications, CLIA waived testing, EKG and treatments in accordance with nursing license and JHC clinic standardsAssist providers with clinical proceduresPromote a safety-conscious work forceAssess, plan, implement and evaluate individual nursing care as clinically appropriateResponsible for prioritizing and ensuring prompt care for all patient encounters in the order of face-to-face visits, telephone messages and written requestsResponsible for working with the medical staff and medical assistants to ensure efficient patient flow and complete patient care in a timely mannerResponsible for ensuring smooth coordination of care and continuum of care for JHC patientsResponsible for chronic care management of patients who have depression, diabetes, CHF and chronic pain per clinic and practice team policies, procedures, and processesPrepare patients for examinations, screen patients for appropriate information, and instruct patients in collections of samples, specimens, and tests; provide IV therapiesEducate and inform patient/family regarding results of laboratory orders and clinical tests, health maintenance, wellness, nutrition, medications, diagnostic procedures and treatmentsObserve, record and report patient’s condition including reactions to drugs and treatments to the providerResponsible for ensuring accurate medical and health information is entered in patient’s electronic health recordRespond to/refer incoming patient treatment related phone calls. Instruct patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions.Adhere to all JHC policies and procedures, including but not limited to standards for safety, and work practices as described in the JFHC Occupational Exposure Control Plan and HIPAAAbility to cross-train for Dispensing Nurse essential functions and responsibilitiesMaintain and ensure patient confidentialityOther duties as assigned by supervisor in support of the programRequirementsGraduation from an accredited school of nursingValid Washington State license to practice as a Registered NurseCPR/First Aid Certification or ability to complete employer provided training upon hireKnowledge of professional nursing theory, regulations, and practices to evaluate and provide patient careUnderstanding of substance use disorders, treatment theories, and medications commonly used to treat substance use disorders such as methadone and buprenorphineUnderstanding of common health conditions such as diabetes, asthma, COPD, HTN, HLD, and CAD as well as the medications used to treat these conditionsKnowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; and the assessment and treatment of substance use, behavioral, and affective disordersAbility to work in a cross-culture environment, understands the social and cultural context of the patients at JHC; understands the role of trauma, historical, community, family, and personal experience in wellness and recoveryExceptional interpersonal skills including effective verbal and written communicationAbility to effectively work with patients who may exhibit angry and/or threatening behaviorsUnderstands and adheres to state (RCW, WAC) and federal confidentiality regulations (42 CFR part 2)Experience working with Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) and use of appropriate medical documentation principlesComputer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPointUphold all current vaccine requirements for employmentMust be able to successfully pass criminal background check investigationValid Washington State Driver’s License: ability to travel locally and regionally as assignedPreferred QualificationsClinic experience preferredExperience and knowledge of EPICExcellent organization skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasksEffective time management, decision-making, and problem-solving skillsAmerican Indian/Alaska Native preferences applyPhysical Requirements/Working ConditionsAdequate hearing for stethoscope and telephone use, and to perform the position’s essential functions.
