Job summary

TD Bank is seeking a Java Technical Lead to oversee end-to-end technical design and delivery of complex enterprise projects. You will lead the SDS efforts and drive architecture decisions while mentoring others in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires strong experience in Java ecosystems (Spring/Spring Boot, Hibernate), event streaming with Kafka, frontend with Angular/Bootstrap, Node.js, and database proficiency (MySQL, MSSQL, Oracle).

The Java Technical Lead leads the creation of a comprehensive end-to-end detailed solution with overall accountability for the technical design and delivery of the System Design Specification (SDS) and is largely focused on large-scale, complex or enterprise projects. May also be accountable for complex programming / coding.

Depth & Scope:

• Provides technical expertise and guidance to others in a lead capacity and works autonomously
• Expert knowledge of the business, the broader organization, technical environment, processes, procedures, tools and other relevant technology areas (e.g. Architecture, Infrastructure, Security etc.) from a design / support / solutions perspective
• Primary subject matter expert in multiple areas and consults with clients/or project teams with respect to all aspects of research, analysis, design, hardware / software support and/or development of technical solutions and/or testing
• Works autonomously and leads on a diverse range of activities (e.g. design, support of technical business solutions) and is relied upon to coach / educate and monitor the work of others
• Acts as an internal expert resource in the exchange of technical information for project teams, and provides technical insight and recommendations to the business and/or outside vendors
• Typically reports to a Senior IT Development Manager or higher

Education & Experience:

• Undergraduate degree or Technical Certificate
• Graduate degree, preferred
• 7+ years related experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• 7+ years of relevant experience in software engineering and application support with programming languages such as Java, J2EE.
• 5+ years of experience with Java development frameworks such as Spring/Spring Boot, Hibernate.
• 3+ years experience with Event Streaming platform like Kafka.
• 2+ years of experience in front-end development with Angular and Bootstrap technologies, Node JS.
• 2+ years of experience writing SQL/Functions/Procedures in database systems such as MySQL, MSSQL, Oracle.
• 2+ years of direct Azure Cloud experience.
• 2+ years experience utilizing Kubernetes
