Job summary

SRM Technologies is seeking a Java Tech Lead to drive the design, development, testing, and maintenance of enterprise Java applications. You will combine hands-on backend engineering with strong technical leadership, mentoring, and delivery coordination.

You will partner with analysts, frontend teams, QA, DevOps, and architects to deliver reliable, secure software while upholding quality and performance standards.

Qualifications

• Typically 10–12+ years of software development experience with 3–4+ years in a technical lead or senior engineering role.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java 17+ and the Java ecosystem.
• Practical experience with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data JPA, Spring Security, and Hibernate/JPA.
• Deep understanding of microservices, REST APIs, service integration, and distributed design.
• Solid knowledge of OOP, SOLID, design patterns, and clean-code practices.
• Experience with SQL databases and tuning (PostgreSQL/MySQL/Oracle/SQL Server).
• Proficient with Maven/Gradle and Git; strong experience writing automated tests (JUnit/Mockito).
• Familiarity with code quality tools (SonarQube/Checkstyle) and security, logging, debugging, and performance tuning.
• Excellent communication, technical decision-making, and mentoring skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and guide Java developers through design, implementation, reviews, testing, and defect resolution.
• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs and integrate with frontend apps and external systems.
• Translate requirements into designs, tasks, and delivery estimates.
• Promote SOLID principles and common design patterns; ensure coding standards.
• Review code for quality, readability, performance, and security.
• Troubleshoot complex issues and perform root-cause analysis across layers.
• Improve performance, scalability, reliability, and observability.
• Develop and maintain unit/integration tests and support automation checks.
• Collaborate with QA, frontend, DevOps, and architecture teams on releases and environments.
• Participate in sprint planning, estimation, and technical discussions.
• Mentor team members and foster knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

The successful candidate will work closely with business analysts, frontend engineers, QA, DevOps, and solution architects to deliver reliable, secure, and maintainable software.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and guide Java developers through design, implementation, code reviews, testing, and defect resolution.
• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs and integrate backend services with frontend applications and external systems.
• Translate functional and technical requirements into solution designs, development tasks, and delivery estimates.
• Apply object‑oriented design principles, SOLID principles, and appropriate design patterns.
• Review code for quality, readability, maintainability, performance, and security; promote consistent engineering standards.
• Troubleshoot complex application issues and perform root‑cause analysis across application and integration layers.
• Improve application performance, scalability, reliability, and observability through sound engineering practices.
• Develop and maintain unit and integration tests and support automated quality checks.
• Collaborate with QA, frontend, DevOps, and architecture teams on releases, environments, and technical dependencies.
• Participate in sprint planning, estimation, technical discussions, and delivery reviews.

Required Skills and Experience

• Typically 10–12+ years of software development experience, including 3–4+ years in a technical lead or senior engineering role.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Java 17 or later and the Java ecosystem.
• Practical experience with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data JPA, Spring Security, and Hibernate/JPA.
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture, REST APIs, service integration, and distributed application design.
• Solid knowledge of object‑oriented programming, SOLID principles, common design patterns, and clean‑code practices.
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, or Microsoft SQL Server; able to write and tune SQL.
• Experience with build and source‑control tools such as Maven or Gradle and Git.
• Experience writing automated tests using tools such as JUnit and Mockito.
• Familiarity with code quality and static analysis tools such as SonarQube or Checkstyle.
• Knowledge of application security, logging, debugging, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
• Strong communication, technical decision‑making, mentoring, and team collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Exposure to cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment practices.
• Experience with messaging technologies such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery teams.
