Job summary

GE HealthCare is seeking a Java desktop developer to maintain, enhance, and extend a mature codebase for medical imaging software. You will implement features, write tests, and participate in code reviews while addressing cybersecurity considerations.

You should have a CS/CE degree (or equivalent experience) with strong Java skills, problem solving, and good communication, plus a willingness to learn the medical domain and work across a hybrid environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or computer engineering, or related field with notable CS coursework.
• Two years of industry experience in Java; or five years of direct Java experience without a degree.
• Strong knowledge of OO principles and data structures.
• Good problem-solving, analytical thinking, and communication skills.
• Willingness to learn about medical industry as needed.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, improve, and add features to a large Java desktop code base.
• Write automated tests and participate in peer code reviews.
• Mitigate and document cybersecurity risks; contribute to secure code.
• Interact with user-facing staff to define input requirements and see impact of work.
• Collaborate with team and manager to personalize growth path.
