We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join the Middle Office Core Platform organization and help drive product development and modernization initiatives. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer who enjoys building scalable software, solving complex technical problems, and delivering technology that creates measurable business value.

You will be responsible for designing and developing everything from individual modules to large‑scale components and features. You’ll work closely with other engineers, architects, and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment focused on modernizing platforms and delivering high‑quality products.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deliver backend software components and features from concept through production.
• Participate in technical discussions, architecture/design sessions, and whiteboarding exercises.
• Collaborate closely with engineering peers in an agile, fast‑paced development environment.
• Deliver high-quality software within established product release timelines.
• Maintain strong code quality through unit testing, automation, coding standards, and engineering best practices.
• Develop a deep understanding of the overall product, its modules, and the relationships between components while maintaining expertise in assigned areas.
• Design interfaces and information exchange patterns between application modules and services.
• Contribute to the architecture and development of scalable, highly available distributed systems.
• Identify opportunities to improve application performance, reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
• Develop and optimize applications using appropriate design patterns, algorithms, and data structures.
• Participate in build, release, deployment, and production support processes.
• Apply strong testing practices to improve software quality and reduce production issues.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or another STEM-related field.
• 7+ years of relevant professional software engineering experience, or equivalent experience with an advanced degree.
• 7+ years of experience with Java and the Spring Framework and/or Go.
• Strong understanding of Object‑Oriented Analysis and Design, software design patterns, and coding principles.
• Hands‑on experience designing and developing microservices.
• Strong experience with relational databases such as Oracle, MySQL, Sybase, PostgreSQL, or similar technologies.
• Experience building scalable and highly available distributed systems.
• Strong understanding of core data structures and algorithms.
• Experience evaluating and optimizing application performance through effective architecture and coding practices.
• Experience working in Agile software development environments.
• Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and business stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Python scripting.
• Experience with Service Mesh, containers, and Kubernetes.
• Hands‑on experience developing cloud‑based applications using cloud‑native and open‑source technologies.
• Experience with AWS or Azure and their native cloud services.
• Experience with modern distributed systems and cloud‑native architectures.
• Experience with build, release, CI/CD, and deployment automation.
