Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Java Selenium Test Automation Engineer to deliver high-quality automated testing solutions that improve software quality and accelerate release cycles. You will work within the Quality Engineering team, collaborating with developers, business analysts, product owners, and client stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years in Quality Engineering, Functional Testing, Test Automation, or Software Testing.
• Strong hands-on experience with automated testing using Java and Selenium.
• Experience in functional, regression and integration testing.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum environments and cross-functional teams.
• Knowledge of CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions.
• Strong analytical and collaboration skills.

About the Role

As a Java Selenium Test Automation Engineer, you will make an impact by delivering high-quality automated testing solutions that improve software quality, accelerate release cycles, and enhance customer experiences. You will be a valued member of the Quality Engineering team, collaborating closely with developers, business analysts, product owners, and client stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.

In this Role, You Will:

• Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated test scripts and test suites using Java and Selenium to support application releases and enhancements.
• Perform functional, regression, integration, and user acceptance testing to validate business requirements and application functionality.
• Collaborate with Agile teams to understand business requirements, define test scenarios, and ensure comprehensive test coverage throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Analyze test results, identify defects, troubleshoot failures, and work closely with development teams to support timely issue resolution.
• Contribute to the enhancement and maintainance of automation frameworks, reusable components, and testing assets to improve efficiency and reliability.
• Support continuous integration and delivery processes by integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and ensuring stable execution across environments.

What You Need to Have to Be Considered

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in Quality Engineering, Functional Testing, Test Automation, or Software Testing
• Strong hands-on experience executing auotmated testing using with Java and Selenium.
• Strong experience in functional, regression and integration testing.
• Experience developing, maintaining, and debugging automated test scripts and reusable automation frameworks.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Knowledge of CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar platforms.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.

These Will Help You Stand Out

• Experience with Playwright, Katalon, or other modern automation tools.
• Experience with API testing tools such as Postman or Rest Assured.
• Knowledge of test management and defect tracking tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
• Experience working in cloud-based application environments.
• Relevant testing certifications such as ISTQB or Certified Selenium Professional.
