Job summary

ShipStation Global in Dallas is seeking a Software Engineer (Java) to build and maintain Java microservices and event-driven backend applications in a Spring Boot environment on AWS, collaborating with frontend teams using Angular and React.

You will develop, test, deploy, and optimize Java services, integrate with REST, SQL, and messaging systems like SQS, SNS, Kinesis, and RabbitMQ, and contribute to CI/CD with Jenkins and GitHub Pipelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or relevant field.
• 1–3+ years of development experience using Java in a modern Spring Boot (3.x) environment.
• Experience developing and deploying applications on AWS.
• Background in creating multi-threaded Java applications.
• Experience with JDBC and relational databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL).
• Experience with Spring-based REST services and RESTful APIs/JSON.
• Experience with asynchronous messaging (SQS, SNS, Kinesis, RabbitMQ).
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with observability/monitoring tools (Datadog).
• Experience configuring CI/CD (Jenkins, GitHub Pipelines).
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Java applications and microservices in development, test, and production.
• Adhere to coding and design guidelines across applications.
• Collaborate with architecture team to define development toolset.
• Assist in code reviews and Agile requirements.
• Develop updates and enhancements including business logic in Java/SQL.
• Integrate with systems via REST, EDI, XML, SQL and messaging.
• Work with DevOps to deploy containerized code to AWS.
• Monitor and support production systems with observability tooling.
• Ensure data security and web app protections.
• Support CI/CD processes and pipelines.
