Job summary

Global Payments is seeking an experienced software engineer to build and evolve applications across front-end and back-end systems for scalable, reliable payment experiences. You’ll design solutions that meet business needs while upholding strong architecture and performance standards.

You will drive code quality, influence technical decisions with engineering and business partners, and contribute to PCI compliance and data protection requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, MIS, or related field.
• 6+ years of experience in software engineering.
• Experience across front-end and back-end technologies with Java, Python, or .NET.
• Strong understanding of APIs, external services, and integration across distributed systems.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases; data design and queries.
• Ability to analyze complex technical problems and design effective solutions.
• Collaborative mindset with experience working across teams and improving engineering practices.

What you’ll own

• Build and evolve applications across front-end and back-end systems, delivering reliable, scalable solutions that power global payment experiences.
• Design technical solutions and program specifications that align business needs with strong architecture, performance, and maintainability.
• Drive code quality through development, debugging, and testing that reduces defects and strengthens system reliability.
• Influence technical decisions by partnering with engineering and business teams to shape solution design and delivery approaches.
• Strengthen engineering standards by applying secure coding practices, including Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance and data protection requirements.
• Improve system performance and stability by analyzing complex codebases and identifying opportunities for optimization and modernization.
• Contribute to technical planning by providing effort estimates and helping shape delivery timelines for complex initiatives.
• Share knowledge and raise engineering capability by guiding peers and contributing to continuous learning across teams.

What you bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
• 6+ years of experience in software engineering, with strong skills in coding, system design, and data analysis.
• Experience working across front-end and back-end technologies, with proficiency in at least two modern programming languages such as Java, Python, or .NET.
• Strong understanding of APIs, external services, and integration across distributed systems.
• Experience working with relational and NoSQL databases, including data design and query languages.
• Ability to analyze complex technical problems, design effective solutions, and make sound engineering decisions.
• A collaborative mindset with experience working across teams, contributing to technical discussions, and improving engineering practices.

It’s a bonus if you have

• Experience working in large-scale or enterprise environments where you’ve built or maintained systems that operate with high availability, security, and performance expectations.
• Exposure to cloud platforms and modern development practices such as CI/CD (Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery), containerization, or microservices architecture.
• Familiarity with regulated or payment-related environments where you’ve applied strong security, compliance, or industry standards in day-to-day engineering decisions.
