Job summary

NS2 Mission is seeking a Junior-Mid level Java Developer in Chantilly, VA to join a mission-focused team. You will design, develop, and test Java-based applications with integration to C++ components and NeXtMidas libraries.

You will work across the software lifecycle, implement automated tests, and maintain CI environments using Jenkins and GitLab while collaborating with engineers on signal and geospatial data projects. This role emphasizes quality and hands-on growth in a specialized platform.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Strong software development experience with Java or C/C++.
• Solid working knowledge of Linux/UNIX and Windows operating systems.
• Experience developing unit tests and creating standardized technical documentation.
• Proficiency with IDEs and build tools such as Eclipse and Gradle.
• Experience with source control management and CI technologies such as Bitbucket, Jenkins, and GitLab.
• Active Security+ certification or ability to obtain within the first 3 months.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a mission-focused environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to software quality.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain software components for signal and geospatial data processing.
• Develop solutions using Java and interface with native C++ code.
• Analyze and resolve complex technical challenges through software design, development, and debugging.
• Create and maintain automated tests using JUnit and NeXtMidas macro language.
• Maintain and support test environments leveraging Jenkins, GitLab, and various map servers.
• Participate in software configuration management and CI activities.
• Support application users by responding to technical questions and help requests.
• Contribute across the software development lifecycle including design, coding, testing, and documentation.
