Job summary

Aquent is partnering with a leading financial services organization to transform its core applications into a unified, high-performance platform. This role offers you leadership to shape architecture, mentor engineers, and drive end-to-end delivery across frontend and backend systems.

You will guide a cross-functional team through Java/Spring Boot and cloud initiatives, ensure code quality, and champion security and scalable design in a large investment management environment.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of professional experience with a Bachelor's degree or an advanced degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in Java, Spring Boot, Spring Framework, cloud development, RESTful services, and micro-UI development.
• Proven experience coaching and mentoring junior and staff developers.
• Strong expertise in system design for mid-scale to enterprise-level applications.
• Ability to translate architectural proposals and leadership goals into detailed technical design documents and roadmaps.
• Strong capability in designing for availability, resiliency, security, and performance.
• 1-3 years of experience with version control, project management, and CI/CD tools.
• Proficient in using IDEs and version control repositories for code management.
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-resolution skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical design, development, and implementation of complex, multi-platform application systems.
• Coach and guide a scrum team on Java and Cloud Development platforms, encompassing both frontend and backend technologies.
• Ensure the highest standards of code quality, comprehensive unit testing, and adherence to best coding practices.
• Conduct thorough code reviews, providing constructive feedback and fostering continuous improvement within the team.
• Spearhead Proof-of-Concept projects to establish reusable patterns and drive architectural innovation.
• Actively participate in agile ceremonies, leading technology solutioning across a broad team landscape.
• Develop high-level designs, system design documents, and architecture documents, securing necessary approvals.
• Provide independent leadership and guidance to the development team, potentially coordinating with offshore teams and testers.
• Champion security by evaluating, guiding, and resolving vulnerabilities, ensuring robust, reusable, flexible, and high-performing solutions.
• Configure automated builds and deployments using modern CI/CD tools.
• Write comprehensive unit test cases for all code implementations.
• Contribute to the creation of automated pipelines for continuous integration and deployment into cloud environments.
• Adhere to all best development practices and guidelines.
• Actively participate in all agile ceremonies, supporting leadership in achieving team objectives.
