Job summary

Aquent is seeking a skilled technologist for an on-site Java-focused development role in Ann Arbor, MI. You will architect solutions powering financial applications and collaborate across teams to deliver robust software.

You’ll work with core Java, APIs, and frameworks, contributing to scalable, high-performance systems for a leading financial services organization. This position offers hourly compensation in the $50–$55 range and a chance to influence millions of users.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience with core Java on client and server sides.
• 3+ years with OO Analysis/Design, distributed systems, real-time processing, relational databases, and messaging systems.
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and GoF design patterns.
• Experience with agile and test-driven development.
• Experience with rich UI frameworks or similar APIs.
• Experience with application development frameworks.
• Experience with Unix/Linux, Windows, and Mac OS.
• Experience with build, deploy and test automation tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Candidates must not require sponsorship.

What You'll Bring

• 3+ Years of experience with core Java (both client and server side).
• 3+ Years Experience with Object-Oriented Analysis/Design (OOA/OOD), distributed systems/software, real-time processing, relational database systems, and messaging systems.
• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms and design patterns (GoF).
• Experience with agile, test-driven development.
• Experience with rich UI frameworks or similar APIs.
• Experience with application development frameworks.
• Experience with Unix/Linux, Windows, and Mac operating systems.
• Experience with build, deploy and test automation tools.
• Demonstrated experience working with core business logic within applications.
• Experience in developing APIs and Frameworks.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent discipline.
• Candidates must not require sponsorship.

Bonus Points If You Have

• Experience with concurrency & multi-threading.
• Experience with scaling, Java Garbage Collection, and performance tuning.
• Working knowledge of finance and/or trading domain.
