Job summary

Atlas Search is seeking an experienced Java Developer to migrate functions from a legacy platform to a modern distributed system. The role involves analysis, design, development and production support across the project lifecycle.

You will work with users in UAT, assess requests for feasibility, and help move changes from development through QA to production. Strong communication and independent work in a collaborative team are essential.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in Java development with a strong OOAD foundation.
• Hands-on Java 11+ and J2EE, including Spring, Spring Boot and Hibernate/JPA.
• Experience building REST APIs and microservice architectures.
• Proficient SQL with MySQL or MariaDB in distributed environments.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher.

Our client is hiring a Java Developer to help move a set of operations-focused functions off a legacy platform and onto a modern distributed one. The role covers analysis, design, development and production support.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test and document fixes and features that users request, and work alongside users during UAT.
• Assess incoming user requests for feasibility, effort and fit with existing systems.
• Move changes through change control, from code and testing to QA sign-off and production release.
• Join requirements gathering and design sessions.
• Translate specifications and problem statements into high-level and detailed designs.
• Design and deliver solutions that meet business requirements.
• Provide production support for the applications the team builds.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience.
• Hands-on Java 11+ and J2EE development, with Spring, Spring Boot and Hibernate/JPA.
• Solid OOAD skills and practical use of design patterns.
• SQL with relational databases such as MySQL or MariaDB.
• UNIX/Linux development and automation with Shell or Perl scripting.
• Experience building and supporting REST APIs and microservice architectures.
• JBoss EAP (7.x+) deployment and support experience.
• Comfortable with Git or SVN workflows (branching, merging, releases) and with Maven, Jenkins and CI/CD.
• Unit and integration testing.
• Able to debug, troubleshoot and tune performance across complex distributed systems.
• Clear communicator, verbally and in writing, who partners well with business and technical colleagues.
• Strong organization and prioritization across multiple deliverables, working independently or within a team.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher.
