Job summary

Cognizant seeks a skilled Java Developer to join the engineering team and work on OSS components in a containerized cloud environment. The role emphasizes Java, RESTful APIs, and database expertise while mentoring teammates and collaborating with platform and infra groups.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in Java development with strong knowledge of Core Java, OOP, Collections, Concurrency, and Exception Handling.
• Hands-on experience with Java frameworks including Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate, JPA, and RESTful API development.
• Strong database expertise with MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL, and development of stored procedures, triggers, and functions.
• Experience with Git, Agile methodologies, SDLC, and software debugging/troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with AWS services, OpenShift/Kubernetes, container technologies, microservices architecture, messaging systems (Kafka/RabbitMQ), and CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Develop, customize, and maintain OSS components and create containerized deployments using OpenShift (OCP) and internal deployment tools.
• Design, develop, and support Java-based applications and RESTful APIs using Spring Boot, Hibernate, and related frameworks.
• Build and maintain database solutions, including stored procedures, triggers, functions, and performance optimization across multiple database platforms.
• Collaborate with platform, DevOps, and cloud teams to implement CI/CD pipelines, microservices, and AWS-based solutions.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues, perform root cause analysis, and mentor team members on software development best practices.

Job description

We are seeking a skilled Java Developer to join our engineering team and support the development, customization, and deployment of open-source software (OSS) components in a containerized cloud environment. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Java development, databases, cloud technologies, container platforms, and software engineering best practices. This role also involves mentoring team members and collaborating closely with platform and infrastructure teams.

In this role, you will:

What you need to have to be considered

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $ 68422 to $ 131500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
