Job summary

New York Technology Partners is seeking a senior Java backend engineer with strong Spring Boot and microservices experience. Hybrid work in the US, with locations in Richmond, VA or Atlanta, GA. Long-term W2 contract.

You will design and implement enterprise web applications, REST APIs, and scalable services while collaborating with architects and product owners. The role requires 7+ years in Java/J2EE, front-end skills (Angular/React), and experience with MongoDB and relational databases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of software development experience with Java/J2EE.
• Strong proficiency in Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data JPA and Spring Security.
• Front-end experience with Angular or React, TypeScript, HTML5 and CSS3.
• Experience building REST APIs and microservices.
• Knowledge of NoSQL (MongoDB) and relational databases (Oracle/SQL Server/PostgreSQL/MySQL).
• Proficiency with Git-based source control and Agile/Scrum practices.
• Experience with Copilot, AI prompting tools and modern SDLC practices

Responsibilities

• Experience with Copilot, Devin, Windsurf for AI prompting, Spec Driven development

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized deployments.
• Knowledge of Kafka, RabbitMQ, or other messaging platforms.
• Experience with GraphQL and API gateway technologies.
• Familiarity with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Maven, SonarQube, and CI/CD practices.
• Understanding security standards, OAuth2, JWT, and OWASP best practices.
• Experience with automated testing frameworks such as JUnit, Mockito, Selenium, or Cypress
