Job summary

Ztek Consulting, Inc. seeks a Java FSE Senior Developer to design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade web applications using Java, Spring Boot, and modern frontend technologies.

The position is onsite in Richmond, VA or Atlanta, GA. The role requires 7+ years of Java/J2EE experience, strong Spring Boot/Spring MVC/Data JPA/Spring Security expertise, and frontend experience with Angular (preferred) or React, plus TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field.
• 7+ years of Java/J2EE development experience.
• Strong backend with Spring Boot, MVC, Data JPA, and Security.
• Frontend familiarity: Angular (preferred) or React; TS/HTML5/CSS3.
• Experience building REST APIs and microservices; OOP and SDLC knowledge.
• Experience with NoSQL (MongoDB) and relational DBs (Oracle/SQL Server/PostgreSQL/MySQL).
• Proficient with Git and Agile/Scrum environments.
• Familiarity with AI prompting tools (Copilot, Devin, Windsurf) and API-driven development.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade web applications using Java and modern frontend technologies.
• Build and consume RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Develop responsive and user-friendly UI components using Angular, React, or similar frameworks.
• Create scalable backend services using Spring Boot and related Spring Framework modules.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, product owners, and architects to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog grooming.
• Write clean, maintainable, and reusable code following coding standards and best practices.
• Perform unit testing, integration testing, and code reviews to ensure software quality.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application performance, security, and scalability issues.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines and support automated deployments.
• Work with relational and NoSQL databases to design, optimize, and maintain data models.
• Support production deployments and participate in incident resolution when required.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in software development with Java/J2EE technologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized deployments.
• Knowledge of Kafka, RabbitMQ, or other messaging platforms.
• Experience with GraphQL and API gateway technologies.
• Familiarity with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Maven, SonarQube, and CI/CD practices.
• Understanding security standards, OAuth2, JWT, and OWASP best practices.
• Experience with automated testing frameworks such as JUnit, Mockito, Selenium, or Cypress
