Job summary

OfferUp is seeking a backend software engineer to design, build, and deploy scalable Java services on the OfferUp Connect team. You’ll work on high-volume microservices, streaming pipelines, and on-call rotations to keep the platform reliable.

You’ll integrate with Braze, Amazon Pinpoint, Apple, and Google, mentor juniors, and help ship features that turn listings into sales for millions of users across the United States.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong Java coding skills.
• Working knowledge of asynchronous, event-driven systems and distributed-systems fundamentals.
• Comfort giving and receiving feedback in code reviews and a bias toward shipping.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy backend services and event-driven pipelines.
• Integrate with third-party platforms like Braze, Amazon Pinpoint, Apple, and Google.
• Coach and mentor junior team members and participate in on-call rotation.
