Utah Valley University’s Department of Languages and Cultures is seeking an adjunct Japanese instructor to help students build language and cultural skills and engage them through meaningful instruction. You will design and teach courses, prepare materials, evaluate student learning, and collaborate with faculty to maintain an effective program.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Japanese or a related field is required.
• Bachelor’s degree with two years of teaching or closely related professional experience also acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Design and teach courses in Japanese.
• Plan, prepare, and follow an approved course of study with measurable objectives for each course taught.
• Prepare instructional materials (syllabi, exams, mock-ups, visual aids) as necessary.
• Instruct, manage, and supervise individuals and groups in classrooms and laboratories using appropriate teaching methods.
• Evaluate instruction and learning by means of appropriate testing methods.
• Maintain a student-oriented approach to education.
• Coordinate cooperative work experience programs and students as assigned.
• Assist counselors, department chairperson and/or program coordinator, faculty, and department staff in maintaining an effective program.
• Maintain desirable and safe laboratory and classroom conditions.
