Job summary

Cushman & Wakefield is seeking a Janitorial Manager in the United States (New York area) to lead the custodial team across client properties. You will supervise staff, ensure high cleanliness and safety standards, handle scheduling, track performance, and contribute to daily operations.

Job Description Summary

The Janitorial Manager is responsible for leading and developing the custodial team while ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and service quality. This role oversees daily operations, supports team performance, manages administrative responsibilities, and steps in to perform cleaning duties as needed. Flexibility, strong leadership, and exceptional organizational skills are essential. This position is responsible for the supervision of the custodial department and all other cleaning services for all client maintained properties.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Performance

• Lead, supervise, and support custodial team members to ensure consistent, high‑quality execution of all cleaning tasks.
• Evaluate team member performance and collaborate with management on feedback, coaching, and advancement recommendations.

Operational Oversight

• Oversee daily operational reporting, including customer concerns, transportation issues, and other service-related updates.
• Ensure work assignments and shifts are executed effectively, adapting to changing business needs.
• Perform cleaning services as needed to support operations or fill coverage gaps.
• Mix and apply detergents and cleaning solutions according to required specifications.
• Operate cleaning equipment such as buffers, vacuums, and other custodial machinery.

Safety, Quality, & Maintenance

• Monitor safety compliance and report hazards, repair needs, or maintenance issues promptly.
• Ensure adherence to all safety practices and industry standards across the team.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment for internal customers and team members.

Administrative Responsibilities

• Manage departmental administrative tasks, including ordering materials and supplies, processing timecards, and maintaining accurate documentation.
• Assist with scheduling, inventory management, and operational planning.

Customer & Team Support

• Demonstrate strong internal customer service skills by actively listening, addressing employee concerns, and recommending positive solutions.
• Make informed decisions, prioritize effectively, and balance multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.

Minimum Qualifications

The compensation that will be offered to the successful candidate will depend on factors such as whether the position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement, the geographic area in which the work will be performed, market pay rates in that area, and the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
The company will not pay less than minimum wage for this role.
The compensation for the position is: $ 55,250.00 - $65,000.00
