Job summary

Pathway Society, Inc. is seeking a Janitorial/Housekeeping Technician for Downtown San Jose to maintain clean, safe facilities in residential treatment settings. You will perform cleaning duties, interact with staff and clients professionally, and help ensure a sanitary environment compliant with program requirements.

The role supports housekeeping tasks, laundry, supply management, and coordination with the maintenance team, with a focus on reliability and HIPAA/42 CFR awareness.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in janitorial/housekeeping.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and online timekeeping.
• Strong communication in English, both written and spoken.
• Pass background check and maintain valid driver license and insurance.

Responsibilities

• Dust, vacuum, mop, wipe door jams, light switch covers, walls & baseboards.
• Dust furniture and equipment; replace light bulbs as needed.
• Replenish supplies and coordinate with the maintenance coordinator.
• Oversee cleaning equipment inventory and ordering with maintenance coordinator.
• Maintain cleaning closet in an orderly manner.
• Clean staff restrooms, offices, dining and reception areas.
• Perform laundry duties: wash/dry, fold bedding, restock linens.
• Report maintenance issues to coordinator.
• Drive/procure supplies as needed.
• Maintain professionalism and safety in all interactions.

We offer a wide range of substance abuse and counseling services to adults and families who suffer the consequences of alcohol and substance abuse. **Janitorial/Housekeeping Description:**The Janitorial position works in residential substance use treatment settings, using his/her experience in janitorial skills for overall cleanliness of Pathway Society facilities.
