Job summary

Harvard Maintenance is seeking a dedicated janitorial professional to join our Bloomington team. The role involves cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, break rooms, and public areas, restocking supplies, and operating cleaning equipment.

You will follow safety protocols and report any hazards to management while maintaining a reliable, on-time schedule. The position requires physical stamina, basic cleaning tasks, and good communication to coordinate with site staff.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Reliable transportation to job sites.
• Able to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for all basic cleaning in assigned areas.
• Clean, sanitize, and restock restrooms, break rooms, and common areas.
• Empty trash and recycling; dispose of waste properly.
• Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in all areas.
• Operate cleaning equipment (floor scrubbers, buffers, vacuums).
• Follow health and safety regulations and company policies.
• Report maintenance issues or safety hazards to management.
• Attend to spills and related cleanup as needed.

A day in the life

• Responsible for all basic cleaning
• Clean, sanitize, and restock restrooms, break rooms, and common areas
• Empty trash and recycling bins, and dispose of waste properly
• Cleaning includes sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors in all areas
• Operate cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers, buffers, and vacuums
• Follow all health and safety regulations and company policies
• Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to management
• Performs additional duties as required, including attending to flooded areas, incidental spills, and related clean-up work for trash and restroom concerns
• Minimum of 1 year experience preferred
• Strong communication skills
• Reliable transportation to and from work sites
• Must be willing to work assigned hours
• Capable of performing the physical demands of the job, including bending, kneeling, carrying, lifting, reaching, and standing for extended periods
