Job summary

The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden is seeking a dependable Seasonal Janitor to join our Operations team. This hands-on role keeps our property clean, safe, and welcoming for staff and visitors, indoors and outdoors, with a secondary shift from 1pm to 10pm during peak season.

You will perform cleaning, restocking, light maintenance, and support during high-traffic events, with weekend work required and up to 40 hours per week, while maintaining schedules and collaborating with the team.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of work experience involving physical or manual labor.
• Basic English understanding and communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs, bend, stoop, walk long distances, and remain active throughout a shift.
• Comfortable working weekends, nights, and flexible hours as needed.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Professional communication skills and positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily janitorial and custodial services, including cleaning and restocking restrooms.
• Empty trash and recycling containers.
• Clean offices and shared spaces.
• Monitor property for litter and cleanliness.
• Deliver and restock janitorial supplies; track usage.
• Identify, report, and help address facility issues.
• Safely operate cleaning equipment (vacuums, scrubbers, etc.).
• Perform minor maintenance on janitorial equipment (pads, filters, belts).
• Secure all equipment at end of shift and report needs.
• Complete daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules on time.
• Assist with special cleaning projects (carpet cleaning, power washing, event support).
• Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Collaborate with team members and support Operations projects.

The Dallas Arboretum is looking for a dependable, hardworking Seasonal Janitor to join our Operations team. This is a hands‑on role focused on keeping our property clean, safe, and welcoming for staff and visitors. This position plays a key role in supporting the Dallas Arboretum’s busy season by ensuring the grounds and facilities remain clean, safe, and welcoming for guests and staff. This position works both indoors and outdoors, offering the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the gardens while performing essential duties.

This position offers consistent hours, clear expectations, and the opportunity to contribute to a well‑maintained and respected facility.

Work schedule

The work schedule is mainly five days a week, including weekends. Working the second shift from 1pm to 10pm, this seasonal Janitor supports the Dallas Arboretum’s peak season by maintaining facilities during and after high‑volume guest activities. This position may work 40 hours per week however is classified as a Seasonal position.

What You’ll Do

• Perform daily janitorial and custodial services, including:
• Cleaning and restocking restrooms
• Emptying trash and recycling containers
• Cleaning offices and shared spaces
• Monitoring property for litter and cleanliness
• Deliver and restock janitorial supplies across the property; track usage to support inventory accuracy
• Identify, report, and help address facility issues such as leaks, damaged fixtures, or maintenance concerns
• Safely operate cleaning equipment (vacuums, scrubbers, pressure washers, etc.)
• Perform minor maintenance on janitorial equipment (changing pads, filters, belts, basic cleaning)
• Secure all equipment at the end of each shift and report supply or repair needs
• Complete daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules on time
• Assist with special cleaning projects such as carpet cleaning, power washing, and event support
• Work outdoors and indoors in a variety of weather conditions
• Collaborate with team members and support Operations projects as needed

Requirements

Preferred (Not Required)
