This role is ideal for a Janitor who is dedicated to supporting our Naval community and ensuring operational success daily. You will perform tasks related to the upkeep and repair of Navy Exchange Bangor retail locations, directly impacting our service to military patrons and their families.

What does a typical day look like? What does it take to succeed?

• Conduct a full range of cleaning tasks for designated areas.
• Maintain and operate cleaning machines and equipment.
• Follow all safety regulations and report hazards.
• Operate motor vehicles as required.

The Qualifiers:

• Moderately heavy physical effort, including lifting objects over 40 pounds and occasionally over 50 pounds.
• Necessary knowledge and skills to perform job duties.
• Valid state driver’s license and passing a background check.

Job Summary:

Performs cleaning tasks using industrial equipment to maintain designated areas.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Follow instructions from supervisor or crew leader; work is reviewed for cleanliness and performance.
• Maintain cleanliness of assigned areas, setting own schedule.
• Operate and maintain industrial cleaning equipment, including scrubbing, waxing, and polishing floors.
• Clean windows, fixtures, and other surfaces, using ladders and scaffolds as needed.
• Report equipment issues and perform minor repairs.
• Remove stains and clean various surfaces with chemicals and solutions.
• Move heavy furniture and equipment as required.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:

Occasional heavy lifting and work from ladders/scaffolds, frequently lifting about 40 pounds, and occasionally over 50 pounds.

Working Conditions:

Indoor work with adequate heat, light, and ventilation; potential exposure to cleaning chemicals and electrical hazards.

Six months experience with industrial cleaning equipment is preferred.
