POSITION SUMMARYThe Illinois Department of Central Management Services is seeking to hire an experienced Janitor to serve in the Springfield area. This position will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of assigned facilities in the Central/Southern Region, maintaining restrooms, and responding to work orders for janitorial related services. In addition, this position will also maintain and make minor repairs and adjustments to cleaning equipment and make repairs and adjustments to doors, floor titles, interior and exterior windows, and light fixtures. The ideal candidate is organized, strong written and oral communication skills, experience with janitorial work, and knowledgeable of cleaning materials and chemicals. POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSUnder immediate supervision of the Springfield Facility Manager, performs a variety of manual tasks in the care, sanitation, and maintenance of the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) facilities and other CMS operated facilities within the Central and Southern Region.
Maintains restrooms, including cleaning and sanitizing urinals, stools, floors, and partitions.
Responds to work order requests for immediate janitorial services.
Maintains and makes minor repairs and adjustments to cleaning equipment including cleaning, lubricating parts, and performing preventative maintenance.
Makes minor repairs and adjustments while cleaning to doors, floor tiles, interior and exterior windows, and light fixtures
Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
