RTX is seeking an on-site janitor/grounds maintenance worker in Chesapeake, VA. The role includes cleaning facilities and maintaining outdoor grounds, with duties ranging from floor care to lawn and shrub maintenance.

Candidates must have a HS diploma or GED and be able to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret clearance. A background in pesticide application is preferred and prior related experience is valued.

• Ability to follow written procedures with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to qualify as Registered Technician for State Certified Pesticide Applicator if employed over 12 months.

• Maintain sanitary conditions including floor buffing, sweeping, mopping, dusting, trash removal, walls/windows/bathrooms/furniture cleaning.
• Maintain the grounds of ROTHR facilities: cutting grass, trimming hedges, edging, pruning shrubs, fertilizing, applying pesticides.

What You Will Do

• Perform routine cleaning of all areas of the site facilities.
• Perform janitorial tasks to maintain sanitary conditions including, but not limited to floor buffing, sweeping, mopping, dusting, removing trash, and wall/window/bathroom/furniture cleaning.
• Maintain the grounds of the ROTHR facilities.
• Duties also include cutting grass, trimming hedges, edging, pruning shrubs, planting grass, spreading fertilizer, and application of pesticides.
• Candidate will perform all other related duties as assigned and required.

This position is on a service contract with a set (non-negotiable) hourly rate of $17.75/hour. The U.S. Department of Labor Wage and Hour Division sets the Service Contract Act (SCA) health and welfare benefit rate. The Health & Welfare benefit for this role is $6.00/hour. This fringe benefit is separate from and paid in addition to the required base hourly monetary wage

Qualifications You Must Have

• Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D. in the US) or vocational/technical education in related discipline.
• Applicant must have a minimum of six months combined practical Grounds Maintenance and Janitor experience.
• Applicant must have the ability to comprehend and carry out the instructions outlined in written procedures with little supervision.
• If employed an excess of 12 months, the selected candidate must be able to qualify as a Registered Technician for State Certified Pesticide Applicator.
• Must have a clean motor vehicle driving record to obtain authorization to drive company vehicles.
• The selected candidate may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information and have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government issued DoD Secret clearance. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance and to obtain any required Export Authorization.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Current Registered State Pesticide Applicator.
• Previous or active Secret security clearance.
